Mike Bickle is a leader with charisma, no doubt; but he speaks out of both sides of his mouth and this is not only a common trait in leaders of any cult movement, but it’s dangerous. While seemingly addressing issues of concern brought against his movement, he manipulatively plants seeds of isolationism and elitism in his people. That’s a big statement, so let me give you some real-life examples:
· While he outwardly and actively seeks the favor and support of Charismatic pastors and leaders, both locally and across the nation, he privately teaches the opposite, as seen in these quotes from Mike Bickle:
“…The Ishmael spirit includes most of the Charismatic churches today. There are two movements, and I believe with all my heart the Charismatic movement is the Ishmael movement…
“We’re looking for a whole new order…I don’t want prominence in Ishmael’s camp. I don’t want to be a part of it at all…we want to come out of the old order, because it’s unbroken…untrained…humanistic…manmade, self-centered… illegitimate…afflicted with evil spirits…“
At the same time that he pursues the church, he secretly works to divide it. This is deceptive, unscriptural, and hypocritical. It would appear that Mike Bickle through his IHOP movement is seeking to gather as large a following as possible unto himself before completely severing ties with the “old order.”
· He trains his followers to expect persecution and rejection from other born-again Christians-— their own brothers and sisters in Christ, thereby already planting a seed of defensiveness in their hearts and division in the church.
Mike Bickle said: “…when the ‘new order’ comes, it will be ten times greater than the old…probably a hundred times…and it’s going to cause some conflict… Saul became jealous of the greater anointing on the ‘new order’ (David)…this jealousy allowed the entrance of an evil spirit into Saul’s order…that order had the blessing of God and it had the ways of man, and it had evil spirits in it as well…”
He is basically indoctrinating his followers to view any attempt of questioning the ‘new order’ as “persecution from the enemy” and confirmation that they are indeed the “elect of God.” This not only divides the church, but it divides households and destroys families.
· One of the things that makes IHOP so dangerous is that it preys upon the youth and/or the young in the Lord. What I mean is, it will accept anyone, but it targets those who are infants in their spiritual walk. Why? Because they are impressionable, trusting and lack the wisdom that comes with experience to be able to see through the lies and absurd teachings of Mike Bickle and his leadership team. Here is a quote from Mike Bickle in his Blow The Trumpet in Zion sermon:
“Woe to those that are educated. Not that your education in God is wrong. But the education of many peoples is what causes them to lose their child-heart. And when the word of the Lord comes, their education will keep them from hearing. I’m not talking about education in the world, I’m talking about education in the scriptures. I’m talking about those in the body of Christ who have labored for years in the Word, and they know too much to be used by God. They know too much to be used.”
Where in the Bible does it state or even imply that a person can know too much to be used by God. It doesn’t. God can use every person at every stage of growth for His divine purpose. Basically, what Mike Bickle is saying is that MIKE BICKLE doesn’t want the overly educated in the Word because those people will easily see how he twists scripture and wrangles the truth to feed his own agenda, which is solely ego based.
These are not old philosophies. They are still being taught at IHOP today. Please don’t take my word for it, but research all of this for yourself and ask God to show you the truth.
