I want to share some quotes with you, things Mike Bickle of IHOP has said while teaching or preaching. I’ve noted from where the quote is derived so if you want to hear more you can look up the title on your own.
“There is a dimension that is coming, and now is, that we have no frame of reference for and most of us think that we do.” “… and they (apostles, prophets) do things that you have no frame of reference for understanding because, believe me, what’s going to be coming down in the next twenty years you and I have no frame of reference for understanding. It is going to be so unusual you are not going to be able to look at the word for every manifestation and find one there because the Spirit of the Lord has so many manifestations that you and I know nothing about.”
(Divine Appointment [Introduction], Mike Bickle, 3/29/89, cassette tape)
So, according to Mike Bickle, it is not necessary to seek the Word any longer because what is happening and will happen isn’t in the Bible. Wow! I guess only Mike Bickle and his team of prophets know how it’s all going to play out.
The Bible says in I Corinthians 4:6 …“Do not go beyond what is written. Then you will not be puffed up in being a follower of one of us over against the other.”
Mike Bickle says, “do not look to the Word for manifestation” because it isn’t in there.
“God intends us to be like gods, he intends us to be like the Son of God. … God has conceived in His heart of a plan to make a race of men that would live like gods on the Earth. He has conceived in His heart to have Sons that would live like His Son, the Lord Jesus lived… That we were to be on earth the extension and manifestation of God’s life in heaven. …When a person comes up and declares what Sonship is about, the religious community comes up and says “blasphemy!” That’s what they did to Jesus. The religious mind will always call this heresy. When the religious mind comes in contact with the revelation of what a Son of God is they will always say it is not right because it’s too high.”
(Mike Bickle, Glory and Dominion of Sonship, Part 2, cassette tape, as cited by Bob Hunter, The Toronto Blessing.)
Wrong. The religious minds aren’t the one’s having a problem accepting this nonsense, it’s the righteous minds that are. God never intended man to be god-like. Where in the Bible does it say man is to be an extension and manifestation of God’s life in heaven? Nowhere. It’s not Biblical. Yes, we are sons and daughters of God, created by Him; and yes, we are to strive to live by the example Jesus set forth for us…but that example is not to become a god. It is to walk in love and faith and mercy.
When Mike Bickle says “God has conceived in His heart of a plan to make a race of men that would live like gods on the Earth”…. Are we to believe Mike Bickle knows the plans of God’s heart? That Mike Bickle has some secret connection to the Almighty God? Wow! He’s placing himself on quite the pedestal there. This, my friends, is egotism beyond human description.
Let me just add… If, and I mean IF, Mike Bickle had some secret connection to God and we know that every word from the Lord is truth, then every word from Mike Bickle would thus have to be one hundred percent true. However, Mike Bickle openly admits that less than half of his prophesies are valid.
“Jesus was the beginning, but our children and us, we’re included in this… we’re the end of this thing.” (Manifested Sons of God)
(Mike Bickle, School for Prophecy, Session 7, Vineyard Ministries, 1989)
Once again, how does Mike Bickle proclaim to know we are the end of this thing. It says in the Bible that not even Jesus knows the hour when he will return. No one knows but God the Father.
“There’s Apostles, there’s Imminent Apostles and there’s Most Imminent Apostles…. There’s various levels of Apostles and the Lord was showing that….. out of This Movement there would be 35 apostles…. that will be of the highest level of apostolic ministry….. the whole government of this movement in it’s highest level in all places it goes. . . . the government rests on Apostles and Prophets. . . . Though I believe there will be hundreds of apostles in this movement and every movement will have its apostles and prophets, I believe God. He’s merging Apostles in a number of movements now and He’s going to add prophets to the prophets that are already there and He’s going to bring us to higher statures.”
(Mike Bickle, Visions & Revelations, Kansas City Fellowship Audio Cassette)
This is not Biblical. The Bible speaks of Apostles and Prophets. It does not speak of three levels of Apostles nor that there will be 35 highest level Apostles. This is dead wrong any way you slice it and yet one more example of Mike Bickle’s false teachings.
“God MUST answer prayers in a big way because without the breakthrough, we’ll die…”
Mike Bickle, International School of the Prophets Conference 2000, Tape # 000512011A, Friday May 12,2000, 11:00AM session.
Might I note that this phrase shows a man in desperation. Mike Bickle has jumped from one thing to the next thing to the next thing, hoping it was God’s next big deal. Bickle’s ego beckons him to be front and center on God’s revelation stage. The problem is, God isn’t behind any of these movements. They are like “get rich quick” schemes. They fail time and time again because if you read the Bible you see that God is in the diligence, the heart relationship, the daily quiet walk with Him. His Holy Spirit is often a whisper of a tug inside, not a jerking, screaming, shaking, thrusting, screaming, pulsing, chanting outburst. I’m not saying the Holy Spirit can’t move this way, I’m saying look at history. The movements that have tried to force manifestations have manifested something other than the Holy Spirit and the presence of God. One cannot force God to answer prayers, for He always answers… it just isn’t always in our timing. One cannot force down the presence of the Almighty…because that would mean man had the power to control God…and that just isn’t the case.
IHOP is just another failing movement created by Mike Bickle and the very dark spirit that lies within him. Look at the message and look at the messenger. When what spews forth from his lips is false, then you know that truth cannot reside within. Lies don’t produce truth and truth cannot produce lies.
